It’s a color matching puzzle game with a big focus on the pets. After an initial peek at the level, you can pick a pet to bring along. Each one has a unique power which can have a devastating effect on the level, and you can charge it by making matches.
When you complete a level you’re rewarded with pet food which you can use to feed your pet so it can grow and evolve into even more powerful forms!
One of the main things I learned while making Pick a Pet was how to define and control the difficulty. Once that was down, it was time to figure out how to make levels for each pet. As the name implies, part of the fun is figuring out which pet you should use in each level. While one might be more effective at clearing the level, another one will be able to get you a higher score (and all three stars!).
Having objectives for both completionist players as well as players who just want to move forward was also a great way to keep them engaged with the game.
Have you played it yet? It’s free, so there’s no excuse!
